Light Motor Vehicle

There are two types of Light Motor Vehicles:

Automatic Vehicle:

Can be driven by LMV-automatic and Manual license holders.

Manual Vehicle:

Can be driven by LMV-Manual license holders only.

Decide to choose wisely and we are at your service to help you this happen.

To apply for a Light Motor Vehicle driving license, your age must be 17 years and 6 months. You can get your driving license once you reach 18 years old.

Types of Registration

Light Motor Vehicle – Beginner (No car driving license from home country or with home country car license valid for less than 2 years)

Light Motor Vehicle – Intermediate (With your driving license from your home country valid for more than 2 years and less than 5 years)

Light Motor Vehicle – Expert (With home country car driving license valid for more than 5 years)

GCC – Holding valid GCC car driving license

Pilot and Cabin Crew – Employees from Emirates Airlines and Fly Dubai with valid car driving license

People of Determination

Others – For drivers who already have a valid UAE Driving license and want to apply for different categories

To Register you must submit the documents below

Original Emirates ID

Eye Test (from Bin Yaber Driving Institute (Head Office) or from any other RTA Authorized Optical Shop)

Original and valid UAE/home country or other country licenses. Translated/attested if required.

Residents from other emirates can apply for a Dubai license with the conditions mentioned below.

If the applicant’s company branch is available in Dubai with the same company name

Valid trade license copy from both emirates and NOC from Dubai branch addressed to RTA.

 Tenancy Contract and Dewa bill under the name of the applicant


Training Details

A. Regular:

The student who can attend regular classes from Saturday to Thursday

1. Can take Maximum 6 hours per week minimum 3 alternative days per week

2. Minimum 1 hour and maximum 2 hours per day

• Saturday, Monday, Wednesday (2 hours per day)

• Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday (2 hours per day)

• Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (1 Hour Daily)

B. Shifting:

The student who can attend classes as per their convenient time and day (as per Regular, Friday, Night options).

1. Can take Maximum 10 hours per week

2. Minimum 1 hour and maximum 2 hours per day

C. Friday

The student who can attend classes Only on Friday.

1. Can take 2 hours (if beginner) and Maximum 4 hours per week

2. Minimum 1 hour and maximum 2 hours per day

D. Night

The student who can attend classes Only in the Night

1. Can take Maximum 2 hours per Night

2. Maximum 6 hours per week

• Saturday, Monday, Wednesday (2 hours per day)

• Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday (2 hours per day)

Other than these, we have various arrangements for corporate accounts and VIP students.

Special Requirements

Existing file transfer from other institutes in Dubai/Emirates

Original No Objection Letter from previous school/institute, or RTA file from the previous school/institute if registered before April 2017

Learning permit (This is not applicable for any emirate other than Dubai)

Residents with visa from other Emirates but working in Dubai

Trade license copy of the Dubai branch

Trade license copy of the other Emirate branch (name must be the same as Dubai trade license)

No Objection Letter from Dubai office and must mention that the applicant is employed and working in Dubai office

Tenancy contract and Dewa bill

Marsom / Bedouin - Customers with no Emirates ID

The letter issued for Marsoom should be presented.

People of Determination

Medical Test Report from Rashid Hospital

Sanad Card from CDA (optional)

Pregnant Women

Husband must issue No objection Letter

A letter from the doctor

Pilots and Cabin Crew

Copy of visa - proof of employment with Emirates Airline or Fly Dubai as Pilot or Cabin Crew

Valid driving license

Practical Training

There are 4 stages of Practical Training:

  1. Basic Vehicle Operation
  2. Driving on roads with Light to Medium Density Traffic
  3. Driving on roads with Medium to Heavy Density Traffic
  4. Skill Driving in the Yard

Practical Test

  1. Theory Test – RTA
  2. Assessment Test – Internal
  3. Yard Test – RTA
  4. Road Test – RTA

Theory Lectures

(Classroom and Online)

Theory lectures are designed to mentally prepare the student for driving safely on the UAE roads. This is an important part of the whole process on the issuance of the driving license. The lectures are conducted in the Head Office Lecture Hall, or you can avail of this service online through our E-Learning portal.

The students who registered must attend the mandatory lectures mentioned below.

  • 1. Attitude and Responsibilities of the Driver
  • 2. Knowledge of Traffic Rules and Regulations
  • 3. Characteristics of Road Users
  • 4. Driver’s Condition
  • 5. The Environment
  • 6. Driving on Freeways, Traffic Violations, and Route Planning
  • 7. Developing Forecasting of Hazards and Emergencies when Driving
  • 8. Traffic Accidents Case Studies and How to Act in an Accident
