UAE Heavy Truck Driving License (Driving License Category 4)

To apply for a Heavy Truck license, your age must be 20 years and above.

Types of Driving License Category 4 Courses in UAE

Heavy Truck License – Beginner

Others – Drivers already having a valid UAE Driving license and want to apply for the Heavy Truck License category

Course Registration: Documents required for UAE Driving License Category 4 in Dubai:

Original Emirates ID

Eye test (from Bin Yaber Driving Institute – head office or to any RTA Authorized Optical Shop).

Original and Valid UAE/Home country or other country license. Translated/Attested if required.

Other Emirates Residents or visa holders can Apply for Dubai License with conditions mentioned below.

If the applicants company branch is available in Dubai with the same company name.

Valid Trade license copy from both the emirates and NOC from Dubai Branch. (Addressed to RTA).

Tenancy Contract and Dewa bill under the name of an Applicant.

Driver Designation in Dubai Residence Visa, Medical fitness report from the RTA approved medical Centre/hospitals


Truck Driving Course – Training Details

A. Regular:

The student who can attend regular classes from Saturday to Thursday.

1. Can take a maximum of 6 hours per week, a minimum of 3 alternative days per week

2. Minimum 1 hour and maximum 2 hours per day

• Saturday, Monday, Wednesday (2 hours per day)

• Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday (2 hours per day)

• Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (1 Hour Daily)

B. Shifting:

The student who can attend classes as per their convenient time and day (as per Regular, Friday, Night options).

1. Can take Maximum 10 hours per week

2. Minimum 1 hour and maximum 2 hours per day

C. Friday

The student who can attend classes Only on Friday.

1. Can take 2 hours (if beginner) and Maximum 4 hours per week

2. Minimum 1 hour and maximum 2 hours per day

D. Night

The student who can attend classes Only in the Night.

1. Can take Maximum 2 hours per Night

2. Maximum 6 hours per week

• Saturday, Monday, Wednesday (2 hours per day)

• Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday (2 hours per day)

Heavy Truck Driving License Special Requirements

Existing file transfer from other institutes in Dubai/Emirates

Original No Objection Letter from previous school/institute, or RTA file from the previous school/institute if registered before April 2017

Learning permit (This is not applicable for any emirate other than Dubai)

Residents with visa from other Emirates but working in Dubai

Trade license copy of the Dubai branch

Trade license copy of the other Emirate branch (name must be the same as Dubai trade license)

No Objection Letter from Dubai office and must mention that the applicant is employed and working in Dubai office

Tenancy contract and Dewa bill

Marsom / Bedouin - Customers with no Emirates ID

The letter issued for Marsoom should be presented.

Heavy Truck Driving – Practical Lessons

There are Five stages of Practical Training:

  1. Basic Vehicle Operation
  2. Driving in two-way street
  3. Driving in multilane street
  4. Special maneuvers
  5. Highway, Night, Independent Driving- Yard and Assessment Test

  1. Theory Test – RTA
  2. Assessment Test – Internal
  3. Smart Yard Test – Internal
  4. Smart Yard Test – RTA
  5. Road Test – RTA

Heavy Truck Driving – Practical Test

(Classroom and Online)

Theory lectures are designed to mentally prepare the student for driving safely on the UAE roads. This is an important part of the whole process on the issuance of the driving license. The lectures are conducted in the Head Office Lecture Hall, or you can avail of this service online through our E-Learning portal.

The students who registered must attend the mandatory lectures mentioned below.
