RTA Mock Test

The RTA theory test is the computer based knowledge exam you sit before you are allowed to start practical driving lessons in Dubai. It checks that you understand UAE traffic law, road signs, defensive driving and hazard perception. You take it after opening a traffic file at an approved driving institute, passing the eye test and completing your theory lectures. It is sometimes called the RTA knowledge test or the RTA written test, and all three names refer to the same exam.

No. The official RTA question bank is not published, and any site claiming to give you the exact exam questions is not being straight with you. Our mock tests are written by our instructors to cover the same topics in the same style, so the format and the thinking are familiar on the day. Learners who work through practice tests until they are scoring consistently well do noticeably better in the real exam than those who go in cold.

Road signs and signals, road markings, speed limits, right of way, defensive driving, hazard perception, safe following distances, fines and black points, and the rules specific to your licence class. Heavy vehicle and bus candidates also face questions on load security, blind spots, braking distances and driver fatigue. Forklift candidates are tested on machine types, working indoors and battery safety.

Attend every theory lecture at your institute, read the RTA handbook, and then use mock tests to find the gaps. The value of a mock test is not the score, it is the list of questions you got wrong. Work through the explanation for each one, then retake the test a few days later and see whether the same topics catch you out. Keep going until you are passing comfortably rather than scraping through.

No. You are not penalised for a wrong answer, so never leave a question blank. If you are unsure, rule out the options you know are wrong and pick the most sensible of what is left. Our mock tests work the same way, and an unanswered question is simply marked incorrect.

You can retake it. Your institute will normally ask you to complete further theory classes before you rebook, and a fee applies to each attempt. Failing is common and it is not a reflection on your driving. Use the gap to work through mock tests and target whichever topics let you down.

It depends on where your licence was issued. Holders of licences from certain countries can transfer directly without sitting any test. Everyone else goes through the full process, including the theory test, though your existing experience may reduce the number of practical lessons you need. The format is deliberately close: multiple choice, a countdown clock, no negative marking and no going back once you submit. Our practice papers are shorter than the official exam so you can fit one into a break, and the pass mark here is set at 75%. Treat that as a floor rather than a target. If you are consistently well above it, you are in good shape.

Yes. As soon as you finish you see every question with your answer, the correct answer and a short explanation of why it is correct. You also get a topic breakdown showing where you are weakest, and the same answer sheet is emailed to you so you can work through it before the real test.
